WHAT IS AN E-PATTERN?
If you are looking to turn one of your original creations into an e-pattern, you have come to the right site.
E-patterns can be used for any type of craft including sewing, painting, ceramics, candles, stitcheries, pillows, wreaths, ornies, bowl fillers, make-dos, holiday creations, woodwork, dolls, home decor and much more.
An e-pattern is something that is created on the computer, that you can sell through your website. Instead of a paper pattern, the customer can receive an electronic pattern through email. The pattern arrives as a PDF file, which basically means that anyone can open it, no matter what program created the pattern.
You and your customer will both need to have Adobe on your computer. If you don't, it can be downloaded for free at http://www.adobe.com. Adobe is what will open the pattern so it can be viewed and printed.
WHAT DO I NEED, FROM YOU, TO CREATE AN E-PATTERN?
1. A picture of your project (in .jpg or .gif format) emailed to me. If you do not have a computerized picture of your item, you can mail me a photo and I will scan it for you. Your photo will be sized to fit appropriately on the cover of your pattern. It is important that you have a good quality picture. Be sure you have plenty of light and a nice backdrop. Be sure your picture is crisp and clear. If it is fuzzy or out of focus, that is how its going to look to your customers.
2. Your instructions and supply list, typed in Microsoft Word and emailed to me as an attached word.doc. You are responsible for spell checking these items. I will not be re-typing these, just inserting them into your pattern. I can also type instructions for you for an additional fee.
3. You will need to scan and email your pattern pieces as a .jpg or .gif file. If you do not have a scanner, you can mail a copy of the pattern to me and I will insert it in the pattern.
4. The name of your pattern, pattern number if applicable, graphics, your business information, etc. Whatever information you want placed on the cover. Also, information on how your pattern may be used by your customers as far as making and selling your item. I can help you with this if needed.
5. Any graphics, artwork, banners, logos, business card designs, etc. should be emailed as a .jpg or .gif file. Please note that web graphics are not good printables. If there is a problem with how your graphics look, I will let you know.
Single graphics can also be purchased from my other site, www.justcountrydesigns.com. If you see a design on my site that you would like to use on your pattern, there is a $2.00 fee (for each graphic). Once you pay for this graphic, it can be used on all your patterns so they match. You only have to pay this fee once. Please write down a description of the graphic so I know which one you are interested in. Also note that some graphics on the site may not resize appropriately so you can contact me before placing an order, to double check.
6. All this information should fit within an 8 x 10" area, to allow for computer and printer margins. Do not type or write or draw near the edge of your paper.
CREATING YOUR COVER:
You can pick the font style for the cover and also the border design. Visit the Font and Border pages on my site and write down what you like. If you are looking for something not shown, please let me know and I will try to find it for you. Enhance your pattern by using your creativity to make an eye catching cover to entice your customers to buy!
OPENING THE PATTERN:
As I mentioned, you will need to have Adobe to open the pattern when I send it to you. Please check the pattern over and let me know if there are any changes. You should set up a folder on your computer to store all your patterns, so you can easily access them each time you have an order. Your customers will also need Adobe to download the pattern when you email it to them.
After all this is completed, you will have your very own e-pattern to sell on your website!
INSTANT DOWNLOADS FOR YOUR CUSTOMERS:
You can also offer instant downloads, which are very popular these days. The pattern downloads instantly upon payment from your customer. For a small monthly fee, you can set this up through a website called www.IMPPro.com.
All that is left now is to sit back and let your patterns sell!
